[Isabel] Taking the air

Who: Isabel
Where: Outside the medical facility
When: Early evening, day 21 (almost immediately after Back to the real world)
Invited: Anyone
Status: Complete

Isabel burst into the fresh air outside the bunker and sighed with relief. She wasn't usually an outdoors person; the landscape around Roswell was pretty harsh and unforgiving, and she'd never got into the habit of really going out in it. Of course she'd spent a lot of time scrambling over rocks and through desert, but that had been out of necessity. This island was something quite different, something Isabel had yet to really appreciate, but no matter what the landscape was actually like it was much better than spending another minute in the bunker with that ridiculous Dr. McKay. Not even Nicholas had been that arrogant. After a moment's reflection, Isabel realised that she should be thankful that McKay wasn't an evil alien working for Kevar, the conqueror of her homeworld.

If homeworld it was. Earth had always been home. She'd never remembered much of her previous life, and what she'd been told of it by others she would rather have forgotten. But this place... it barely felt like Earth. She'd seen a lot of Earth over the last few years since leaving Roswell, but there was something very odd about this island. That might just be because of all the strange people who were stuck on it, and the Wraith attack, and...

Isabel sighed as she walked to the edge of the forest and leaned against a tree trunk in the shade just under the edge of the canopy. She didn't want to go too far in, as she'd heard some pretty scary tales from the other people about what they'd found amidst the trees. The night-time fight with the Wraith was quite enough for Isabel. She wondered where it had been that she'd killed that one Wraith. No hope of finding the spot; not that it would tell her anything useful. She remembered turning it to dust.

With a sigh, she turned her attention back to the bunker entrance. All was still and quiet - as quiet as a tropical island ever got, anyway. She could hear birds and the rustling of the trees, and the skittering of a few small things in the undergrowth. What was it about McKay? With any luck she wouldn't encounter him again for a while; at least not until she'd calmed down from his latest round of aggravation. Did he do it deliberately? Was he trying to drive her up the wall as a sort of punishment for what she'd done to Claire?

Almost on the heels of that question, she saw McKay emerge from the bunker and stride away, with the other man who'd been in the cafeteria with him. Neither of them saw her in her shadow, and she made no move to reveal herself. Just as well they were going somewhere, but even the sight of McKay's superior expression was enough to raise her irritation again. Not really knowing where they were going rankled more, although he'd said something about a place to hold prisoners. There was so much about this island she didn't know; twenty days most of the others had been here already, and so much had happened.

Against what they knew, what they had shared, she really was an outsider and a useless one at that. She kicked at a tree and managed to hurt the end of her foot.

"Dammit!" she exclaimed. "Can't I even take out my frustrations on a harmless tree now?"

She could, of course. She could blow the tree to splinters, and probably get a lot of those splinters stuck into her in the process. That wouldn't be a wise move.

OOC: This mentioned McKay and Methos heading off to the prison facility as they mentioned in Back To The Real World

"Good plan for the time being. She needs a few days of fairly stress free baby bonding."

Ripley began to make another wooden peg. Snare traps were Hugh and Tommy's area of expertise. But they didn't look too hard. She'd certainly triggered enough of them in the first weeks to know how they worked from the wrong end.

"Of the admitted aliens around here, there's you, part of me, and the Doctor. I think his ego thing half comes from his considering humans a race of children just learning their potential. Although the silly little ape quips get old. He seems to think Rose is an exception. And if those two don't skip forward to the hot monkey sex, they might spontaniously combust. HE smells like honey, makes me crave baklava. Still he has better social skills than McKay, and can be a lot of fun to be around. Unless something better comes up, I plan on taking off with him, Rose and Jack Harkness when we can escape this rock. Traveling throgh space I'm used to. Traveling through time sounds interesting."

"Now Jack Harkness, he's human, but from five thousand years in the future. He's fairly open about that too, since The Doctor was sharing, he does too. If you haven't met him yet, he'll be the one trying to flirt your pants off, and make you feel special and complimented by it as well. Never had a guy kiss my hand before. So there's the openly alien and time traveler part of our group. Then there's George. She came out of the casket a week or so ago. She's a grim reaper. She helps the dead move on from this world. Talks to ghosts, and no, she's not a medium. She's way more than human, just.. not alien. Faith fights Vampires, and apparently Hugh, down at the beach, does on occasion. Ash kills zombies, and once traveled through time himself, and we've got a real 18th century pirate as well."

Ripley looked to see how Isobel was absorbing these revelations. "So see, you aren't alone in being unusual here. Or being open about it. Which is why not many even bothered to question your story much."

Ripley finished the second wooden spike and moved on to doing some stretches. SWhe really needed to move more. When she was active, she was pretty quiet. It must be boredom.

[Kenzaki] Fooood.

KENZAKI ENTERS

Kenzaki decided that it was time to take a break from cleaning out the facility and instead start food-gathering a bit - after all, Jauson-san needed him at the interrogations and he'd rather not spend more time there than he had to. He'd taked a spare cloth bag and started gathering what he'd been told was edible, then wandered back towards the facility.

He stopped as he saw Ripuri and the other woman. He couldn't remember her name. She'd done something to Cuaire-san, and he was inclined to distrust her, but Ripuri seemed to be trusting that, and she had good instincts. So he was willing to cut her some slack.

"Goodu moruningu," he said. "Ripuri, yuu okaii?" He looked at her in concern. She smiled and said something to him that he didn't quite catch, but he took her response as "I'm all right" or "I'll be all right", and turned to the other woman, digging a fruit out of his bag. "Puresu eatu."

At least his English was getting better.

"He's fairly well travelled. Maybe he does. Ask if you want." Ripley replied just as Kenzakai emerged from the trees with a pretty good Good Morning and even asking if she was okay.

Ripley tried to assure Kenzakai she she was doing well. What she really needed was to move around, Not enough to tear anything, but enough to loosen the muscles that had healed so rapidly they'd almost atrophied, a strange side effect. She grinned. She knew just how to work out those kinks. As soon as Methos... Adam came back from playing sidekick to McKay. Now there was an odd teaming.

She looked into Kenzakai's bag of foraging goods and mentally sighed. Fruits and veggies. She wanted a big cheeseburger. Or a rack or ribs... or some sushi. Snake was good too. She was a carnivore, damnit. She needed animal flesh.

"I'm gonna try to go for a little hunt." She managed to get to her feet, only a bit stiff. "I promise to take it easy." She patted Kenzakai's arm, not sure he understood the words, but hoping he got the intention.

"Let whoever's on monitor duty know, will you?" She asked Isabel this, as Unless it was Scott or Daniel Kenzakai would have a hard time passing the message along.

[Kenzaki] I think I understand.

Kenzaki just stared at the woman for a moment before remembering his manners. "Goodu Morningu, Ishubelu-san," he said, hoping he hadn't mangled the woman's name. "Pureased to mitu yuu."

Ripuri had some strange friends, himself among them. He figured it would be good if he could be polite towards them.

(OOC: Sorry, my muses took a vacation without telling me)
