[Mayday]

((OOC: AAUUUGHHH! This is the fourth time I have tried to post this, and every time something has caused me to lose it (Internet went out at home, then Firefox crashed, then we had a brownout at work). So I initially tried to NPC Ripley, but have lost the voice in all those attempts. Which is why it sucks.))

Okay, good news and bad news.

The good: She was conscious and able to form complete sentences. The bad: she obviously wasn't coping. And there was no reply from the woman who'd been so protective of her. Crap. "It's May. Um, I was one of the people in here earlier?"

That wasn't helpful, so she kept talking. "I guess Tylenol is a lame excuse for painkillers, but it's all I've got. That, and pancakes. Are you both still in there? Is everyone okay? And by 'okay' I mean 'not passed out.' Nobody here is technically 'okay,'" she added in a lower voice.

A second passed, and just as May was seriously considering getting help, the door opened a crack, then just wide enough to reveal the older woman, wary and suspicious but still alert and unharmed. May let out a breath of relief. "Sorry. I figured you two would want an update, or barring that, at least some food. There's more in the kitchen, but also a lot of people, so I didn't think you'd want to raid the fridge just yet."

The woman cocked her head, sniffing, but a smile quirked at the corner of her mouth. "You always talk this much?"

"Honestly? I have no idea."

The woman stepped back, motioning with her head for May to enter. May timidly obeyed, shutting the door behind her as the woman went to tend to the other girl, who was curled up in a fetal position and shying even the puppy away. She set the pancakes and the bottle of Tylenol down on the small side table, unsure what to do or how to help.
