(She really is dead. Undead. Whatever.) Ami's fascination and morbid curiosity marginally outweighed her brain trying to override her with reminders that what she was thinking simply wasn't possible. She resisted the urge to reach out and grasp Millie's wrist and check for a pulse. The other urge, however, was instinctive. Ami reached out mentally, brushing against Millie's mind and sensing her surface thoughts.
She recoiled at the sense and 'sound' of nothing. Millie's emotions were there, not as strongly as others around her, but her thoughts were silent. Either Millie was dead, or she had some super shielding. Except that it didn't feel like shielding.
"Um, it's just that I mentioned this woman, George," Ami started and tried to figure out where to go with it. Something told her that suggesting to Millie that she had been killed by a piece of space debris probably wasn't the way to go. "She and Daisy could see and talk to dead people. And you were talking to that French bloke earlier that only you and Daisy could see so …" Ami trailed off with a shrug.
She could see and feel Millie's discomfort and glower and she suggested, "Maybe you faked your death? Changed your name? I mean, you can talk to dead people. According to what I wrote, that is, and you know," Ami waved her hand into air, "Earlier."
