[Aeryn] Dinner?

Who: Aeryn
Where: Corridors/dining room
When: Day 28, Later afternoon
Invited: Open
Status: Incomplete
Aeryn had left the others, Tara, Michelle and Molly and made her way through the maze of corridors. There surely had to be a place she could clean up the leathers of her jacket and pants? Maybe somewhere she could wash the top, too?
Gratefully, she'd accepted the clean clothing that Molly had brought. Peacekeepers had no qualms about sharing clothing, as long as they fit. After all, if a peacekeeper was killed, his or her uniform could be recycled for the next officer.
But how she knew about that, she had no idea.
Walking the corridor, she found herself humming the strange tune that John had programmed his DRD "1812" with. It was odd, since she had no idea where it'd come from, had no memory of what a DRD was/is, but it felt comforting, as if it were something she was used to hearing.
(OOC: 1812 played, if you didn't know/couldn't guess, the 1812 overture... and a DRD is like a small robot, designed to keep the ships clean/tidy/repaired.)

[Sam Tyler] Well, hello there.
Date: 2007-03-30 05:42 pm (UTC)Judging from how the lights had dimmed and his stomach rumbled, a few minutes had turned to hours. Getting up and visiting the loo brought a sense of deja vu from the morning. Sam ignored it the best he could and set off for the canteen.
When he rounded the corner just before the canteen's double doors Sam nearly collided with a curvaceous brunette. He jumped back with a chagrinned smile. "Pardon me, Miss...? Er, I don't believe we've met. I'm Sam. DI Sam Tyler."
He tried not to ogle. Really, he did.
[Aeryn]
Date: 2007-03-30 08:46 pm (UTC)In frustration, she'd bundled everything up in her jacket and held it under her left arm, her right hand automatically resting on the butt of her pistol.
~What was it John said?~ she mused as she walked these dingy corridors ~It'd be a bad idea to try and take that pulse pistol from you. Yes, maybe it would.~
She decided to head for the canteen, but there were a lot of thoughts going through her head by now, all of them questions, but no answers. She knew her name, she sort of recognised John's face; but that's where the memories ended and snatches of nothing started.
When he rounded the corner just before the canteen's double doors Sam nearly collided with a curvaceous brunette. He jumped back with a chagrinned smile. "Pardon me, Miss...? Er, I don't believe we've met. I'm Sam. DI Sam Tyler."
A little man, dressed in a comfortable leather jacket rounded the corner. Her instinct was to grab him and push him out of the way, but this time sense over-rode instinct and she just stepped aside smartly. He was introducing himself, but Aeryn didn't know if he'd understand her.
"I'm sorry, my name is Aeryn Sun." she said quietly, watching this man's every move. He looked like a trained fighter, or something not quite normal (But what WAS normal in this place?)...
He tried not to ogle. Really, he did.
...but the way he was watching her made her feel a little more protective. After all, she was only wearing a flimsy tee and without her leathers she felt nearly naked. "Excuse me, my eyes are up here."
(OOC: Bold words are English, as the translator microbes finally start working.)
[Sam Tyler]
Date: 2007-03-31 03:17 pm (UTC)Blushing, Sam shifted his gaze up to the gorgeous (and dangerous-looking even if she hadn't had a futuristic pistol on her hip) woman's face. "Yes, of course," he managed. "I, er, I'm afraid I don't understand you..." Sam stopped his rambling. If he didn't understand her, chances are she didn't understand him. (I need to find Daniel, or one of the others who speaks several languages.)
Keeping a polite distance between them, Sam gave her an equally polite smile. He took a step toward the canteen, motioning for her to follow.
[Aeryn]
Date: 2007-03-31 03:56 pm (UTC)She knew that he would likely be stunned by her understanding of his name, but she shrugged as he turned to look at her. Her face was vaguely apologetic, "Tara or Doctor.." she said, then continued "Chris." She was trying to tell him who she had encountered so far that understood her.

Date: 2007-04-01 04:18 am (UTC)[Rose/Doctor] Finding each other
Date: 2007-03-31 11:46 pm (UTC)Rose had hesitated at the door. After all, she and this man were practically strangers. Only, not. Pictures and video evidence showed her they were at least friends. And what they were doing when her she realized she couldn’t remember… She wondered how long her memory had been missing, as she was too occupied to notice. They were a hell of a lot more than friends.
“You’ve been busy.” She stepped into the room. “Multiple rescues. Must be a habit of yours.”
“Don’t know, but most likely, yeah.” His grin was a bit uncertain.
Rose couldn’t help but smile. No matter what, there was something about him that made her feel… so many things. Safe, excited, anticipatory, home, all at once. And she couldn’t deny the mental connection, even if they had both been trying to keep it limited. He wasn’t what she thought she would usually be attracted to. In fact, she’d kind of enjoyed looking at all the pretty men around here. Yet the one who made her heart speed up, and her nerves tingle was this one.
“We’ve been together for a while.” Rose offered, picking up one of those amazing video plates from the dresser. “And I think we’re … not normal. This all looks, alien. Some of it looks historical.”
“’M not human.” He blurted out.
She blinked, taken aback. “Not… human.” She could feel a tremor of nervousness coming from him, even though he looked like it was a casual mention. Like the weather looks clear this morning, or the fish tastes a bit off, all on par with I’m not human. Her repeating the last seemed to make him a bit more on edge, internally.
“That a’right?” He turned to look at her.
“Yeah.” She answered almost breathless. She was struck by a flash of de ja vu, which was very odd.
“Am I?” She asked. Odd to have to ask that.
“Yeah.” He answered. “You’re human.”
“Oh, Okay.” She had stripped the sheets earlier and remade the bed. Now she smoothed the blanket.
“This is silly.” She looked at him sidelong.
“The human alien thing?” He was grinning again. Definitely mad. She liked it that way.
“No. Us.” She turned to face him. “Dancin’ round one another. Am I the only one feelin’ this connection?”
“No.” His face became intensely serious, as if a switch had been flipped. There was something sensual, dark, even beautiful in the look he gave her now. She felt the pull between them, and understood the physical attraction completely. That look.
She drifted closer and reached up to kiss him. He returned the kiss, holding her tightly, as if he were afraid she’d slip away.
Forever. The word echoed in her head.
[Doctor/Rose] Messing about
Date: 2007-03-31 11:57 pm (UTC)"... just the night before last by the looks of it. I mean some of it adds up but..." They looked up as if noticing the others in the cafeteria and Rose's words drifted off.
The Doctor grinned at Aeryn. "You're looking better. More refreshed at least. How's the arm?"
[Sam Tyler]
Date: 2007-04-01 04:16 am (UTC)A familiar male voice called something unintelligible. Sam turned to find Chris and Rose holding hand and standing close. (Another happy couple.) Sam was surprised at the bitterness tinging the thought. He deliberately pushed it aside. "Chris, you speak her language?"
[Aeryn]
Date: 2007-04-01 11:31 am (UTC)"Much better, I think" she replied, "just a little stiff, but nothing some exercise can't heal. I might just be lucky to find someone to spar with, too."
Something had started to feel wrong with the way she was talking. It was as if something else was forming some of her words... but wasn't doing a good job at it. She frowned, then gestured to Sam beside her, as she continued to address the Doctor and Rose "Can you thank Sam? For showing me the way?"
Although the DI's original introduction had been somewhat stiltdd, she did find that she liked his humble attitude at least a little.
(OOC: Again, bold words are in English.. :D)
[Doctor/Rose]
Date: 2007-04-01 05:17 pm (UTC)True, there was an odd infliction here and there, but it all sounded perfectly understandable. Rose didn't seem aware that she was speaking Aeryn's language as well.
"Aeryn, this is Rose Tyler. Rose, Aeryn. And Aeryn is only using the occasional english word. Mostly she's speaking a language I'm pretty sure isn't from Earth. And you seem to be understanding it, translating unconsciously. You just spoke it, yourself."
Rose looked at him like he grew a second head. "I was just speakin' English."
"Nope. Concentrate on the words, and how you'r forming them. Try reading my lips while I'm talkin' to you now. Not English." He was grinning again. He seemed to love new and confusing things.
"This is just... wierd." That little line formed between her brows.
"Innit? But it's interesting." The Doctor switched to English. "Sam, Aeryn says thanks for showing her the way."
Rose shook her head, still trying to wrap her mind around so many unusual things.
"Nice to meet you Aeryn. I don't think I'm the sparring type. But we have some military people here who might be up to it." No reason not to be polite while mulling things over.
[Doctor]
Date: 2007-04-01 05:05 pm (UTC)[Sam Tyler]
Date: 2007-04-01 06:14 pm (UTC)His growling stomach made sense. Remembering Aeryn's translated thank you, he gave her another smile. "You're welcome." To everyone he continued, "Anyone else hungry? I'll see what there is to cook in the kitchen. Although I can't remember cooking anything specific, the concept feels familiar enough."
All three assented, including Aeryn without translation. Sam, who'd taken a few steps toward the kitchen, halted. "You understand me?"
[Aeryn]
Date: 2007-04-01 09:06 pm (UTC)[Doctor]
Date: 2007-04-01 10:13 pm (UTC)He almost danced around Aeryn, pulling his little blue pen thing out and briefly flashing the light at the back of her head. "You've got little tiny microbes setting up house in the base of your brain, translating any language you come across and hear enough of. Fantastic! Much better than shoving a fish in your ear, I'll tell you."
Rose was looking at him like he'd gone mad. "So you think we have these... translator microthingies, too? Cause I have to concentrate to to realize that I'm not speaking English right now."
The Doctor scanned the back of Rose's head. Nope, no microbes. No foreign bodies at all.
"Nope. No fish in your ear either, in case you were wondering." He tucked the pen thing away again. "Must be somethin' else."
He felt a flash of annoyance flit through his mind, and it didn't originate from Rose. That second, ephemeral link seemed to trace off into nothing, except for the annoyance.
"Anyway, one minor mystery solved." He announced.
Rose circled to stand beside Aeryn now. "How did you know that? I mean, you remembered something to know that right?"
"Not human, me. Remember that. Maybe the memory loss works different. Can't work the same on everyone, you know, Even among humans. Different ways of thinking. Odd how it always affects personal information though."
(OOC: yes, the Doctor did half forget Sam was there. One more bit of insanity to drive poor Sam to a rubber room. ::snicker::)

Re: [Chloe]
Date: 2007-04-03 04:21 pm (UTC)He turned around to face May, his hands reaching up to run through his shaggy hair as he quickly schooled his face into something resembling 'friendly'.
"You can ask, yeah, but the answer's no. I don't remember a thing." He turned to blink at his 'twin'. "Does he?"
[Doctor]
Date: 2007-04-03 09:28 pm (UTC)He wanted to add he smart, sassy, and sexy young woman willing to put up with him, but that might tick off said young woman, and imply he was hard to put up with.
"The videos and pictures of us travellin' only indicated one you." Rose took hold of one of the Doctor's elbows and wriggled her hand into the crook. "Sorry, you weren't in 'em." She looked at Claude, feeling a bit guilty she couldn't be more helpful. "Jack was, but not you. Maybe we came here to visit you. Drop in on family and all that."
The Doctor actually felt as if he'd taken a physical blow. He didn't know why, and he mentally cursed in six different languages. He didn't have a family. Not anymore. He was almost certain of it. That raw and gaping wound he'd felt in his mind seemed to roar open and threaten to swallow him. He forced it down, concentrating on the feel of Rose's hand on his arm, her warmth next to him. She grounded him.
She was looking at him now, worried and a bit afraid.
//What is it?// Her voice in his head threatened to make it worse.
//Impression. Not a real memory, but a reaction.// He returned. A wave of reassurance and warmth enveloped him.
He looked at his double. A quick blood test would tell if they were related... or cloned. No, he couldn't be cloned. Why was that? Huh.
"Dunno, the longer hair isn't too bad." Rose was grinning at his double. "Kinda rakish. The beard would take some gettin' used to."
The Doctor suddenly glared at his double. She wasn't flirting, was she? He was much better looking than the floppy haired git.
Rose looked at him sidelong and grinned that grin with the tongue. She was havin' him on. The cheek.

Date: 2007-04-03 11:10 pm (UTC)"However, it's fantastic to be understood at last. Thank you for your help earlier."
May felt a twinge of discomfort at the reminder of the stunts she'd pulled; she hadn't quite come to terms with what she'd been able to do quite yet. But the thanks was genuine. That alone sent a warm feeling through her, so strong it washed the discomfort away. Almost as if getting thanked for saving someone was a rare occasion, as if she'd done it before without even a simple "thank you."
So instead of brushing it off or changing the subject, she felt herself grinning in return. "You're welcome. And if you're any good at improvising with food, I could use some help in that department."
That reminded her of the pots she'd left unattended and she turned to address the group. "And speaking of food, I need to get back to the stove. Coming? We can continue in there." She followed Erin - who had immediately nodded and headed into the cafeteria as soon as May had offered her help - back into the cafeteria, with the detective and Chloe following.
[Sam Tyler]
Date: 2007-04-04 03:23 am (UTC)Before long Sam found a shelf full of DHARMA-brand dried spices. He selected thyme and garlic powder from the collection, grateful that DCI Hunt wasn't about. (Flavouring spaghetti sauce? That would get me called 'poof' yet again.) Pushing the thought aside he turned to May and gestured at the pot of simmering sauce. "D'you mind?"
May shrugged. "Be my guest."
"Thanks." He stirred some thyme flakes and a liberal amount of garlic powder into the sauce. Once that was done he set the plastic containers aside then looked for the newest arrival. "Pigeon" slouched in a chair, arms crossed. "So, ah, Pigeon, where were you when the amnesia hit?"
[Aeryn]
Date: 2007-04-04 09:31 am (UTC)"Really, I'm only any good when protein wafers are concerned. But I will try and help you." She offered a tired smile. "I can at least hold that for you" she gestured to the spoon and tried to make it a joke.
Except that the strain was starting to tell... that and the strangled noises emerging from her stomach.
[Jon]
Date: 2007-04-04 03:47 pm (UTC)For someone with very little in the way of conscious memory, Jon was sure he didn't forget faces that quickly.. and yet here were even more people he could have sworn weren't part of the great WTF gathering earlier on.*
Shaking his head, he waved for the scientist to follow him into the cafeteria. "Is McKay around? No? Oh. Anyone lost a Radek Zelenka? Ring any bells? And please tell me that's for general consumption."
In all his grouching earlier, he'd forgotten about food. Now that he could smell some.. let's just say his stomach was keen.
*OOC: has Jon met Hiro, John or Aeryn yet? I'm pretty certain he hasn't met Claude..
[Radek & Aeryn]
Date: 2007-04-04 04:00 pm (UTC)ENTER RADEK
"I'm not a pet" he growled deadpan as he followed Jon into the canteen. "Nor am I owned by anyone."
He sighed, then looked around at the others in the room.
Aeryn nodded in welcome as she tried to stay out of May's way yet help where she could. The thing they called pasta was begining to make her incredibly hungry, so much that her stomach was trying to claw it's way to the saucepans on it's own.
[Sam Tyler]
Date: 2007-04-04 06:27 pm (UTC)It was a good thing that pasta cooks quickly because the motley group's stomachs were making a feral chorus. While May set the appropriate number of plates and forks on the counter, Sam poured the boiling water and spaghetti into a large colander in the sink. He couldn't help but grin at Aeryn's undisguised curiosity. Then his mind put together one reason why the strange woman hadn't seen pasta before: she'd been on the crashed spaceship that Mad Chris had casually mentioned. "They don't have spaghetti where you're from?"
Before Aeryn could answer her and the others' attention moved to the far end of the room. Sam followed their gaze to find Jon and a rumpled, IT-looking bloke enter. The newcomer sighed and glanced around. (Another person?) Sam thought, astonished. (Where is everyone coming from? I need to get with Daniel and do a full perimeter sweep.) His stomach suggested that it wait until after dinner.
"Ah, hallo?" Sam called.
