"Wait--Mara--bloody Hell, now see what you did!" Charlie's and Harry's shouting tore Tommy's attention from his nearly finished bow. He looked up from his campsite to see Mara running blindly from the two idiots, heading straight for the jungle. Tommy was on his feet and sprinting to intercept her before he quite realized what he was doing. Thankfully he'd somehow remembered to leave the knife he'd borrowed from John behind.

Mara was fast, but Tommy had the advantage of longer legs. He dashed several feet ahead of her, saying, "Mara, stop! You're headed for the jungle. It's safe here on the beach." Although they hadn't actually met previously, he hoped she'd listen.
