Tommy frowned thoughtfully. "Rather than hope that it doesn't happen, we should take steps to keep it from happening." Mara peered at him questioningly. "Tara's been teaching me magic. There are protection and warding spells. She may know of one to keep the Others from calling you. You should ask her when she and the others get back.
"As for sensing danger and giving warning without freezing up..." Tommy paused, trying to think of a way to keep the psychics' confidences. "The Doctor is teaching some of us, including Tara and I, shielding. It's supposed to be psychic shielding, but he said that Tara and I use magic. In any case, it works. I'm still learning, but I could teach you what I know. Shields may give you a buffer so that you're not overwhelmed."
