[Daniel] Day 20: Debriefing (open tag)
Daniel waited quietly, going over the notes in front of him, while waiting for everyone to have some breakfast and get on the same page. The notes were simply a way to organize his thoughts and a list of questions he wanted to ask, systems that needed to be investigated, observations that he'd made about the prisoners and the facility.
"Okay then, I'm not seeing any dusty rocks so what do you –" Jon leaned over his shoulder to peer at the writing and stopped in mid-sentence. "Do you do anything the normal way, ever, Daniel?"
"What's the problem, Jon? Not up on your Gaelic?"
"You're writing notes in Gaelic. If I ask why are you going to tell? You know without boring me to death before I'm actually legally old enough to drink?"
"It's a precaution," Daniel explained. "Our friends here, and I do use the term friends quite lightly, have access to –" Daniel paused, then decided that there was really no point in not saying it aloud, "—Ancient technology. They might be able to read it.
"I thought about all the other languages, but didn't want to chance that they knew one of those."
"Right. Makes perfect sense," Jon rolled his eyes. He kicked out a chair and dropped into it. "So, what's the big game plan? Interrogation? Torture? Throw them to the smoke monster?"
"Sounds good to me," someone muttered.
"It looks like we're all present and accounted for," Daniel looked up at those assembled and smirked at Dean balancing two plates of food. That seemed awfully domestic for Faith, but he could be wrong. "At least all of us whom are going to be present and accounted for.
"Let's get down to it, then."
"What are we doing with them?" Damon asked. The red head didn't have to point out which them he referred to.
"Before discussing the prisoners, I'd like to go over a few other things. This is the easy stuff." Daniel looked at Rodney and then the Doctor and gave them both a nod. "The Doctor and Rodney spent a lot of time working with the start you gave us, Damon. This entire complex is under our control now and completely separate from any other systems that these DHARMA people might have or do have running.
"That doesn't mean that we can let our guard down. It's entirely possible that they are planning a counterstrike. We do have several of their people, and I'm sure that they'll want them back. We'll keep the outside guard rotations at night. The cameras do have a lens to shift to night vision and we can engage the perimeter lights if we chose to do so.
"This place has food and supplies, but we don't know what or how much. Someone, probably several someones, are going to need to take stock of what's in the pantry, what's in the storeroom and what's in the kitchen. Also, I'll see if Dr. Pierson can't take stock of the medical supplies, particularly the drugs that we might need."
No one interrupted to ask why he hadn't chosen House.
"Preliminary checks and a bed count reveal that this facility sleeps 22. I'm not going to assign rooms. We're all adults, and I'm sure you can figure it out. There are twenty beds. There are a limited number of rooms. Some of you are going to be roomies, if you want to have a roof over your head. And that's all I'm going to say about that.
"In addition to inventory, someone is going to need to go back to the garden, the tunnel, the Beach Camp and Camp Serenity, to brief them on the situation here. We have a jeep, which won't be as fast as the other methods of transport available to us, but a jeep won't physically tire anyone out."
"A jeep that has to go in two different directions. That's going to take time," Damon pointed out. "Whichever way the jeep doesn't go, I will." He didn't elaborate. He also didn't sound happy about volunteering. Given his preoccupation with finding Claire and being with Claire, Daniel wasn't surprised.
"Let's not jump the gun, Damon. We'll see what we need," Daniel said quietly, giving the other man a sympathetic nod. "Last but not least, we have the prisoners. Some of them got away, and chances are that the ones who escaped will come for their people. We need to be prepared, and before we decide what to do with them, we need to find out a lot more about them."

[Scott] Clothes Can Wait (tag Faith, open)
He couldn't stop staring. Something was wrong and unease nagged at him, but Scott still couldn't tear his eyes away from Faith.
(Ami's gonna kill me. Or maybe Faith.) Then his traitorous brain conjured the image of both women, stark naked, lunging for him. He wimpered.
The strange sight of Dean wrestling nothing to the table and Damon slumped unconscious in his chair broke Scott's distraction. "Sam, Sam? Invisible?" the pink-haired young man said incredulously.
Scott felt his eyes go wide. He raised his hand in front of his face and saw... nothing. Nada. "Fuck me," he moaned. That reminded him of Faith, which reminded him of Ami-- /Ami!/ She was the source of the unease.
Scott jumped out his chair, shoving past the people in his way but coudln't see him to rush over to his wife.
To be continued shortly...
[Scott] Could be worse, right? (open tag)
Ami tossed in her sleep on the mattress in one corner of the room. As Scott approached she rolled away from him, for which he was grateful. That last thing she needed to waken to was him being invisible and that other assorted weirdness.
She wimpered as Scott sat beside her. Seeing the mattress and light blanket compress beneath where he knew he was sitting was disconcerting. Pushing the thought aside, Scott took one of Ami's hands in his -- which he couldn't see! -- and smoothed her hair with the other. /Ami, it's all right,/ he soothed, sending reassurance and calm. (This magic thing is temporary. It's gotta be.)
Ami's discomfort and near panic lessened. She rolled over, curling up against Scott. He focused on her face to distract himself from how she seemed to be wrapped around thin air, when something new made him gasp. (Her face!) Scott gulped, narrowing their link to not further disturb Ami.
Ami was beautiful, and Scott felt like a dirty old man. The changes in her appearance -- other than the absense of the white lock of hair -- were subtle, but there was no doubt about it. Ami was a teenager. Jailbait.
Scott groaned and closed his eyes. Since he was invisible closing his eyes shouldn't have worked -- (as well as being able to see at all, but this is magic so whatever) -- but it did and he was grateful. He'd simply wait out the spell. (And try not to look at my underage wife.)
(Or the frighteningly strong naked vampire slayer hottie.)
(I hate this fucking island.)
