The worst was over, or so he hoped. Rose was out of danger, and even Scott had been shooed from the room to recoup and spend time with his girl.
Dinner had been good. Pina Colada Chicken, and although he wasn’t entirely convinced it was ALL chicken, all of it was fowl of some sort. Some of the salad greens were odd, and bitter, but with a sprinkle of dressing it was alright. Between May and Molly they’d be decently fed. He’d even been part of the washing up crew.
He had noticed a conspicuous absence of George during dinner. Molly had shrugged and said she’d gotten a plate earlier. After her hightailing it out of the hallway earlier today, it was not unexpected. She was what? Feeling rejected, embarrassed, seriously reconsidering her words?
So now he was standing outside the door to her shared room. He didn’t know why he had a strange protective streak towards her. She was certainly one of the more indestructible members of the group. She was also up front, said what she thought and didn’t play games. Maybe there was a sense of kinship there.
[Jack] Different verse, same tune

He rapped his knuckles on the door.
“Hey, George… are you naked?”
