"Nobody knows!" Isabel snapped, finally managing to get to her feet, although the pain was rather unpleasant. "Nobody remembers who they are or where we are or why, and nobody's got any idea what's going on, so stop asking pointless questions and start figuring out answers."
She held up a hand when he started to speak again.
"And if you don't have anything helpful to say, you might be better employed seeing if there's anything here we can eat. You're not the only one who's hungry." As if on cue, Isabel's stomach growled. Her feet provided a stab of pain as a counterpoint and she winced. "Some painkillers wouldn't go amiss either, if anybody's seen any?"
