Ami blinked, startled. Immediately embarrassed by her reaction - (Why assume that he couldn't speak English?) -- she endeavoured to answer the question. The young man, whose name was currently still unknown, must have missed the initial pow-wows and information sharing.
"We've been here almost a month," Ami told him, "According to what I wrote down." She repeated for him that the flight had been more than 1000 miles off-course and that the search and rescue were likely looking in the wrong place. Ami pointedly did not mention to anyone the information about being six and a half-months out of sync with the rest of the world.
"We - well a few of the survivors - sent a radio transmission, but we don't know if it was ever received."
She paused and then looked around while everyone absorbed that information. "Um, by the way for those who don't know, or I haven't met, I'm Ami."
