The boy caught on the woman's surprised look, but didn't think anything of it. He was rather startled himself that he knew a language so foreign from his own. Considering his age, that had to be something, right? Not that he was sure how old he was, but... Yeah. He couldn't be too old. Maybe he had lived in an English speaking country before? He didn't know.
"Nice to meet you, Ami-san", the boy smiled, then gave an apologetic shrug. "I'd tell you my name if I knew it... Oh! Say, Ami-san, since we're only two Japanese people here, do you have any notes about us in that journal? Maybe... Our names or something?"
