"Are you always this frelling argumentative? Yotz ... you'd think I was asking you to surrender your pulse pistol or something, and for some reason I just know that would be a really bad idea. All I asked was are you hungry? Simple enough frelling question, don't you think? I wasn't asking to sleep with you for frell's sake."
John snarled in a mixture of frustration and annoyance at the woman, he was nearly completely convinced that they had to be mortal enemies. No one this damn stubborn could have any friends. He took a few longer strides, moving to walk just slightly ahead of her. The rest of their rag-tag band of rescuers were also walking with them, the one who had somehow transported him out of the wreckage was speaking in hushed tones with the dark-haired doctor. The one with the ears was humming softly to himself and John wondered if he wasn't a little touched in the head.
She banged on the door. After a minute it opened. "Guess what? More new faces!" Chloe announced.
John tilted his head a little to gaze into the bunker, it was dim on the inside but he could see a few more heads turn to look at them. He sighed, feeling suddenly tired and more than a bit world-weary. The only person he knew on this entire god-forsaken stretch of land was a woman who seemed to only bark or snap at him, or withdraw away from him, whenever he so much as opened his mouth.
He wondered if the blond would be more willing to talk to him.
