Chloe sat for a moment fidgeting after Daniel left. Then she turned to Daisy. "Can you watch the monitors for a while? I--"
Daisy smiled indulgently. "Go," she said. "I'll hold down the fort."
"Thanks," Chloe said. She leaped up and left the control room. Daniel wasn't in sight. Chloe hurried toward her room. George's room. Whatever.
Chloe closed the door behind her and stripped off the clothes she was wearing. It was still pouring outside and if anyone here had a raincoat or an umbrella she hadn't seen any evidence of them. So she settled for the next best thing--a swimsuit. Specifically, the red one piece she'd discovered while searching the room earlier.
When she was dressed Chloe headed for the door, glancing at her reflection in the mirror. "Christ, I look someone on Baywatch."
Chloe threw open the door and stopped, as surprised as George skidded to a stop before she collided with Chloe. Chloe stared at her for a moment, until she heard Faith ask, "going for a swim?"
Shifting her gaze to Faith, Chloe said, "no, just outside. But it amounts to the same thing. What's up?"
"Just tryin' to discuss the sleeping arrangements," Faith said. George turned and glared at her. Faith threw up her hands in a gesture of surrender but Chloe didn't buy it for a moment, and neither did George by the look of her. "Hey," Faith said, "this is where I woke up and in case you haven't noticed, the inn is full. I don't fancy sleeping in a chair in the cafeteria is all."
Chloe edged past George. She gave Faith a once over. "Well, if you do stay here tonight don't start anything without me," she said.
"No promises!" Faith replied promptly, then grinned back at her. "But feel free to join us when you get back." Then she her grin faded. "Where're you going anyway?"
"We lost the video feed from the other bunker. I'm going with Daniel to check it out--and whoever else wants to go."
