Standing at the door, Aeryn watched John's retreating back. She had an inexplicable feeling of unease and no real rhyme or reason to it. She leaned her shoulder against the cool wall of the bunker letting some of the humidity of the forest wash over her face and arms.
She feared the heat, but it seemed strange that she hadn't felt any illness as a result of the crash and trek back through the forest. What if the fear were just something she imagined; nothing more than a childhood fear or something?
But then, John had said that heat was fatal to her.
She sighed softly, then turned so that both shoulders rested against the wall, before sinking down to the floor.
