One thing that Faith noticed on her two treks into the jungle and back again was the sprinkling of tents, shelters and lean-tos that dotted the open field and tree line on the northwestern side of the bunker. There weren't many of them, just enough to suggest that rooms being at a premium was not a new development and that several her fellow "castaways" took to "roughing it." Roughing it was probably a lot easier to handle when there was running water, hot showers and indoor plumbing nearby.

Sleeping outside didn't sound so bad to Faith's ears which made her think that one of the tents was hers. She nosed around, but with only a sleeping bag it was hard to make a determination. (And even if I don't mind sleeping outside, I'd much rather sleep inside if it means sleeping with someone. Or two or three someones.)

Nosing around the other shelters didn't reveal much more, but it distracted Faith from the inevitable thoughts of people lost in the jungle. People that she couldn't help.

(Unless we got it all wrong, and they were moles to begin with. Maybe they found out something that they weren't sharing with the class.)

Faith shrugged the unease off. Suspicions and speculation didn't offer any help or comfort.

Turning to go back inside, she spotted a figure leaning against one of the outside walls. Faith drifted closer. The combination of the starlight and moonlight made Daniel Jackson's hair a few shades darker. His stance and posture told her that he didn't want to be disturbed.

"Nice night for a walk, huh?" Faith asked when she close enough to not startle him. "Getting' too crowded in there for you?"

If Faith's eyes hadn't been trained on him, she might have missed the barely perceptible bob of his head. She did hear the muffled, "Something like that."

"We did what we could, you know?" Faith stopped a bit outside of his personal space. No matter what she might portray, or what others might think, she could turn off the sex when she wanted. "We beat it there real quick, but it was over before we even got there. We coulda never made it unless we all teleported or something."

Striking blue eyes met Faith's. If she was the sort to swoon over a set of pretty eyes, it would have happened then. As it stood, Faith didn't doubt that the man in front of her could work magic and charm the pants off a saint with those eyes, if he wanted to.

Daniel smirked a bit, but the mirth didn't touch his eyes. "That from the woman who set out to make kindling."

Faith shrugged. Her behavior didn't embarrass her. She reacted out of frustration and fury and helplessness. Once she worked it out, it was gone. "I needed to get it out of my system. We were all pretty – discouraged, I guess?"

"I guess," Daniel agreed.

"What'd'ya think happened out there?" Faith jerked her head in the direction of the jail.

The smirk grew. Instead of softening Daniel's features, he looked grimmer and more tired. "I don't know."

"Bullshit." Faith tilted her head, glad to be rewarded by Daniel's startled, wide-eyed blink. "You're the sorta guy who has a theory. You probably got a couple of 'em."

Daniel scrubbed his hands across his face. "You're probably right, not that it matters much at this juncture. Unless we find something salvageable tomorrow, we don't have any way of finding out."

"It's lonely at the top, huh?" Faith sauntered into Daniel's personal space. She slipped into a slouch, jutting her hip out and forward and rested one hand on the center of his chest. She was tired of the serious talk, and Daniel looked like he could definitely use a little bit of a distraction. "Tough bein' the big man on campus?" She flexed her fingers and exhaled. She slid her fingertips up his chest and over to his shoulder. "You do feel a little tense to me."

"I think tension comes with the job description." Though Daniel's voice was level, Faith caught the slight hitch of breath and the widening of his pupils.

"You don't have to be tense, you know. There are a whole lotta ways to get you all loosened up." Two steps closed the distance between them. Faith pressed her body against his. She breathed against his lips, "I gotta couple you might not even be familiar with."

Daniel inhaled sharply. His low laughter caressed her lips even as his fingertips touched them lightly and he took a step backwards to put some distance between them. "You are a beautiful, sexy woman, Faith and I'm pretty sure that you're not used to hearing 'no.' But until we get our memories back, I think it's better to stick with the status quo."

Faith wasn't deterred. She pressed forward. With a tug on his waistband, Faith pulled Daniel's very lean, very muscled and very much aware of her body flush against hers again. "Who's to say that this isn't the status quo? How do you know that we haven't been there and done that?"

"I kept a journal," Daniel explained. "I think I might have mentioned it."

"Maybe you just don't like to kiss and tell."

Daniel was faster and better than Faith gave him credit for. She swooped in for a kiss only to be halted by two hands planted firmly on her waist. Daniel held her gently but firmly at arm's length. Faith knew that she could break his hold, that she was stronger, but she didn't. That wouldn't have been any fun anyway; willing was more fun and given a few more days to work on him, Danny boy might just be willing. It wasn't like she was lacking for a partner anyway.

But Daniel was just … yummy. And intriguing. Forbidden-like almost.

"Faith," Daniel warned.

"I got it," Faith held up her hands in surrender. "I'll back off. This is me, backing off." She stepped back a few paces, making every single step count. Faith smiled proudly when Daniel's eyes roamed over her body. "Just look me up if you change your mind and decide to blow off some of that tension, Danny boy."

"You'll be the first to know," Daniel responded.

Faith chuckled and turned to head back into the bunker. She paused and tossed over her shoulder, "Don't stay out too long."

Back inside, Faith considered her next move. Maybe Daniel wasn't interested – yet – but Faith had a real good idea of who was. With a smile and a sexy saunter, Faith headed off to find Chloe, Jack and hopefully George.
