Scott nodded as he finally decided his other quandry. Daniel needed to know that the Others had tried to take his sphere. He needed to know so that they could figure out what the hell the Others wanted. So they could defend against the Others and Ami would be safe.
Daniel smiled a curt "thank you" and turned back toward the cookfire. "Daniel," Scott managed. The soldier/diplomat/archaeologist/linguist enigma stopped and turned around. "Last night they tried to take... something important to me. It helps me focus." Now that he'd gotten past that part, the rest of his words tumbled out in a rush. "They shouldn't have known about it. They know too much about us. They want more than just the women and children, and I have no idea what." Realizing that his hands were shaking -- from nerves or fear he wasn't sure --, he balled his free hand into a fist and clutched Ami's hand more tightly.
