"Yeah, lunch," Scott agreed half-heartedly. He finished tying his sneakers and ducked outside to wait for Ami.
It was early afternoon of another beautiful day in paradise, if you liked roughing it. Blinking from the bright sunlight, Scott idly looked around the beach to distract him from the rather depressing thought of having children. Motion drew his eyes to Michael, Walt, and Vincent playing Frisbee/get the Frisbee back from Vincent. The three were having a marvelous time. (So much for that distraction,) he thought sourly.
Scott briefly considered shielding his thoughts from Ami, but decided against it. She'd be better off knowing now anyway. (I won't have kids. No way. I won't put them through what I've gone through. Like I even have the money to consider having children. Like I've allowed myself to think of having kids before. Thinking too far into the future is too damn depressing anyway. In a way it's better being stranded here.)
Rustling behind him announced Ami's exit from the tepee. Scott gave her the best smile he could manage and took her hand. "Let's get some food."
