[Ami] Girl Talk (tag Ripley, open)

Date: 2006-05-01 07:47 pm (UTC)
“Faith and Mara are the two new girls in camp,” Ami told Ripley, “I’m surprised that you haven’t heard about them. The rumor mill cooked up almost as soon as they hit the beach. Mara’s an artist, she’s psychic too, very sensitive and her shields were shredded years ago and she never recovered them.” Ami’s voice softened with compassion for Mara, knowing that the process of rebuilding her shields, if it could even be done, would be long, tedious and possibly painful. “She’s one of those absolutely gentle souls. I don’t think she’d even know how to hurt a fly.

“Makes me worry a bit about her, here on this island, actually.” Ami shoved her hands in the back pockets of her jeans as they continued to walk. “Faith…well, she makes an impression. She has this entire Xena Warrior Princess –“ At Ripley’s confused look, Ami shook her head and giggled. “Right. You don’t know about our pop culture. I swear, Ripley, one of the first things we’re going to do when rescue comes is watch all the pop culture television that I can get my hands on.”

Ami thought for a minute, then reconsidered, “All right. Maybe not all of it. Some of it is utter crap, and will just make your eyeballs bleed.

“Anyway, Faith. When I first saw her, she reminded me of you. She moves with this predatory grace that’s hard to put into words unless you’ve seen it. And I mean that as a compliment by the way. You move the same way, like you know that you’re strong and powerful, and you’re proud of it and one hundred fifty percent comfortable in your skin.” Wondering if her words sounded like some sort of schoolgirl hero worship, Ami blushed a bit and kept talking. “I think that she’s a warrior, or at least she has a warrior’s soul, because I’m not sure where she could possibly fight a war on our earth. She wasn’t too keen to talk about herself, though.”

Ami wondered where the wrong place was, then abruptly her mind filled in the blanks. She gave a quiet sigh of relief that Ripley changed directions. “He does seem to be a real sweetheart. Hey, maybe we could make it group lessons. It’s something to do and I wouldn’t mind learning another language.

“Of course, that’s assuming that Carlos and George can survive an hour apart from one another,” Ami finished with a giggle.
