ext_12572: (George Eyes Glazing Over)

Someone or something was shaking George, disturbing her sleep. She flailed at it with one arm and made an incoherent noise of annoyance. The shaking continued. "Rise and shine, sleepyhead!"

George growled and tugged the blanket over her head, which only exposed her lower legs and feet. (Stupid airline blanket,) George thought. She pulled the blanket down again and looked up at Carlos, who was kneeling beside her with a hand on her shoulder. "Morning people are a real pain the ass, you know that?" George muttered, but she smiled sleepily to take the edge off her words.

"Occupational hazard of being a soldier, baby," Carlos said. He leaned over her and spoke into her ear. "Need I remind you that you asked me for a wake-up call at--and I quote--'oh-dark-thirty'?"

"Yeah, but you didn't have to do it," George said. She sat up and glanced at Carlos. He was wearing shorts and looking a little sweaty. "You've been for a run already?" At his nod, George shook her head sadly and glanced upward as if appealing to a higher power. "Health nuts," she said.

Then she looked at him and ran a finger across his stomach, adding, "But I do like the results...."

Clean, wide awake--bathing in a cool stream in the gray light of pre-dawn (plus some heated groping) will do that--George sat with Carlos by the fire. Ash and Blaise were there as well, taking the last watch. George was eating a plate of sliced fruits, having decided that she'd had enough fish stew for a couple of days. They were all drinking some of the Island Brew Java (tm), provided by Dr. McKay.

"So about two day there and two back?" Blaise asked.

"Yep," George said. "That's what Faith says, anyway." She glanced up as another member of the team arrived at the fire. "Hey," George said. "Coffee's on!"
