Scott had snapped his mental shields in place after Blaise mentioned that Claire was very, very pregnant. It was instinct after the red-hot flare of outrage and indignation from the three newcomers. The news clearly affected them on an emotional level. Although he wished that they hadn't suffered through something similar, it motivated them even further. Considering they were woefully ignorant about the kidnappers, the group needed all of the motivation they could get.
After the emotional storm subsided, Scott closed his eyes and leaned back against the tree. The others were right; he wasn't up to this, but he didn't have a choice. He and Damon were the only ones who could locate the women. That, and every minute that Ami, Rose, Daisy, and Claire were held captive was a minute too long.
(Ami.)
Scott almost connected with his sphere to try to reach her. He didn't because he needed to conserve his energy to maintain the Doctor's pace. He'd already used some to partially heal tired muscles that were ready to cramp. If someone was seriously injured, he wouldn't be able to keep going after healing them.
To distract himself from his worries, Scott concentrated on the shadow of his awareness of Ami. Without expending any extra energy he directed love and reassurance to her. The shadow drank it in. /Hold on, love. I'm coming./
