When whatever Alex gave him kicked in, Megabyte felt it in a rush. He went from exhausted and forcing himself to move, to energized and forcing himself to slow down so that he wouldn't get too far ahead and screw something up. Though connecting with the system on an electro kinetic level still hurt like hell, the adrenaline coursing through his veins made it easy to push the pain aside – temporarily at least.

He felt like he could do anything, which he admitted aloud. That was precisely when Jon came through, accompanied by Daisy and a wheelchair. Daisy flew into Locke's arms, which made Megabyte frown slightly – not so much in disapproval as in temperamental longing. (Not like anyone around here is going to greet me like that,) he thought sourly.

Megabyte's attention flickered briefly to the kitchen area where the group was gathering, his gaze lingering longest on Claire. The urge to teleport to her side and check on her was overwhelmingly strong, but the pain in the back of his head stopped him from doing it.

"You can't take both of them in the wheel chair," Megabyte pointed out to Jon, gruffly.

"That's why I brought back up," Jon thumbed in the direction of the sickly happy reunited couple. "I figure once they're done with the teenage tonsil hockey, we can load Tara in the chair. I think Molly is light enough to carry."

The thought of Jon carrying Molly bothered Megabyte slightly, but he didn't know why. He focused more intently on what he was doing.

"How's it comin'?" Jon asked conversationally.

"Better if you don't talk to me."

"He's cranky," Alex informed Jon. "I think it's the pain."

"Ya think?"

Megabyte had no idea what the girl had been doing rifling though the pockets of the currently vacant bodies, but then he'd watched her duck into the exam room and unlock the medical chest. She laid two needles down on the console and waited for him to look at her. "What, you're not going to sneak up and stab me this time?"

"This one," Alex picked up the syringe with a yellow cap, "Is a pain reliever. It's a serious pain reliever and it might make your head a bit fuzzy and stop you from working. Enough of it will knock you out."

"So obviously, it's useless."

Alex frowned. Waving the blue capped syringe in front of him, she continued. "This is a little cocktail that might do the job. It will sharpen your abilities for a while, and it also contains something that will make you happy. You'll still hurt, but you won't care that you hurt. And when it all wears off, you'll have a headache, muscle ache, cramps, naseau, vomiting, diarrhea, vertigo, and extreme malaise."

"In other words, I get to work with an almost clear head now and have a hang over later."

"On top of recovering from the stimulant and whatever Tara's really cool spell did."

Jon called out from where he knelt by Molly. "Aren't you a little young to know so much about drugs? Or at least drugs of the non-recreational kind."

"They teach me," Alex explained as Megabyte held out his arm to her. "They teach me about everything. I learn pretty fast, I guess."

Megabyte did not watch as she administrered the shot. He focused on bringing the computer system under his complete control. The sooner he got done here . . . (Yeah, well forget the wishful thinking, Damon. Just get done and get some sleep.)
