Word had filtered around that the group was regrouping in the north cafeteria in the east wing of the medical facility. Supposedly the power failure had taken them out of lockdown and now it was up to their people – people being limited to Damon and whatever assistance the kid Alex could give him – to get this place secured against another attack. The prisoners were also hauled into the cafeteria and trussed up in a corner until they could be confined to one of the rooms when the survellaince equipment was back online.

Someone asked why they didn't simply leave, and Faith wasn't surprised by Daniel's answer.

"Because this is a good place to fortify. We can beat the kidnappers at their own game if we can tap into their systems, and this place has things we can use: medical facilities alone make this place worth claiming. In addition, there are the showers, the laundry, and the cafeterias."

"Easy access via a short walk to the pillar and ring transport, too," Blaise noted.

"So, that's it, we're moving in?" Faith asked. "Don't think there's enough room for all of us."

"You're right," Daniel agreed. "But this makes an excellent base of operations."

"Yeah, it'd be even better if we could find those vehicles," Jon commented.

Faith perked up at the thought. She was disappointed by the lack of ass kicking and she had some excess energy to burn. . . one way or another. "How 'bout somebody check outside for 'em?"

Daniel managed a partial smirk, "Volunteering?"

"Hell yeah. It's either scout or screw, so unless you're up for the last, better let me take care of the first, Danny."
