"Okay, fine." May pulled the door almost all the way closed, but left it ajar, hand on the doorknob. Since the lock was on the outside, she didn't want to chance getting locked in. True, she could probably snap the door off its hinges if necessary, but explaining that to Daniel? Yeah. No thanks.
She glanced out in the hallway. "It's clear right now. If you're going to try something, go ahead."
