The sun was a lot warmer and a lot brighter than Ami remembered. It was only when she stepped outside the bunker and blinked in the bright light and smelled the sharp scents of grass and leaves and everything outdoors that she realized precisely how long she had been trapped inside the walls of that bunker. She'd forgotten what the tropical sun felt like, and the way the soft breezes lit across her skin and blew through her hair.

She'd forgotten and she missed it and she felt the faintest brief stirrings of anger at the remembrance of *how* and *why* she'd been deprived of contact with nature.

Something of what Ami felt must have shown on her face, or else she empathically projected her feelings that strongly, because Rose put an arm around her shoulders and gave her a supportive hug. "S'all right now. We're good. Both of us, yeah?"

Or maybe it was simply because Rose felt the same things.

Ami hugged the other woman in return and gave her a grateful smile, "Yeah." Then shaking off the melancholy, Ami included Tara and Mayday in her grin, "Right then, girls. Let's pick a spot, soak up some sun, and plan a baby shower. Maybe a cookout as well. Listen to me, I'm turning into a regular party planner."

Tara smiled when Molly showed up. Molly had a way of making Tara feel like anything was possible, and everything was going to be ok. Even if she lost her magic, she'd always have Molly. However, even given the depth of their friendship, there was nothing that was going to stand in the way of the possibility of getting her magic back. So, she stood up taller, leaning less on May for support, and spoke her mind.

"Shortly after I arrived here, I began to feel something strange and nagging in the back of my mind. At first, I just discounted it. But the feeling, though never incredibly strong, was persistent and got stronger. One day, I went off a bit on my own and used a little magic to investigate what it was. I was amazed to discover that it was crossing ley lines!" Tara looked around. Everyone had different looks on their faces at the mention of ley lines. Some believed, some didn't, some didn't have a clue what she was talking about.

"Ley lines are real. Most of the literature out there about them is bunk. Any idiot can connect two point to make a straight line. But ley lines do exist, and yes, some are indeed where people have erected holy sites. Any witch worth her weight has her own map of ley lines. They are natural concentrated earth power. As old as the earth herself. The funny thing is, these two ley lines don't show up on any map I've seen. I haven't had a chance to investigate them, and I certainly can't feel them anymore, but I know they are there. Roughly South and East of here." Tara stopped for a moment to catch her breath.

"If I can get to where the lines cross, the powerful natural magic might just help me fix what's wrong. I lost my magic because I did a spell without proper preparation. I knew it would hurt and wanted to absorb as much of the damage as I could rather than have the others absorb it. But it was simply too much. Things happened that I didn't expect (though I should have remembered about the warping. I blame myself for that one.). The ley lines can rebuild the magic inside of me. I've seen it happen before. It's like dead bodies and current. Send enough current through a dead body, and you just might get it animated again." Molly's face went dark at Tara's association with loss of magic to death, but she didn't speak.

"The problem is, just as with a dead body, time is of the essence. You can ressucitate, but if you wait too long, it'll be too late. They'll be too much damage. I know the lines are South and East; probably a full day's walk, especially in my condition. Molly should be able to get us there once we get closer. Her magic is thriving. She'll be able to sense it where I can no longer. I've got to go. I've got to try." Tara said the last, looking and pleading at Molly to understand...to help her. Tears again flowing freely down her face.

The comment about warping was internal monologue. She wouldn't say that outloud becuase of Molly. I realized that might not be clear.

"You don't have to walk all that way in order to do it," May pointed out. "Molly, is Chris back too?"

Tara looked at May. "That may be true. I'd like Faith to go along, too. We'll need more than picnic provisions. How about we head back to the bunker, look for Chris, get some provisions, and head out in a few?"

"Sounds like a plan," May replied, relieved that Tara was willing to let them work out a plan instead of trying to strike out on her own. "We can also let our fearless leaders know what's up and where we're going. I'm definitely in on whatever the plan is."

Molly smiled slightly at May's enthusiasm as the group started to pack up the remains of the picnic. "So I noticed."

Okay, okay, Tara's plight really did hit close to home, but May wasn't up to talking about that one, especially considering how she lost and regained her powers. "Well, there is one thing," she said as they started back towards the bunker, Tara still leaning on her.

"What's that?" Tara asked.

"The whole bit about sending current through a body... that was a metaphor, right?"

May's question caught her off guard. Tara laughed hard enough that May had to stop and hold her. Tara eventually looked at May and realized her question was serious...which made Tara want to laugh all that much harder. Instead, she responded, "I'm sorry; I shouldn't have laughed. No, the analogy doesn't extend that far. From the rituals I've witnessed, it's pretty benign. It will likely be painful for me, much like any healing can be painful, but nothing I won't be able to handle. Assuming it works in the first place."

Molly approached Tara with the second half of her sandwhich. "Well, if we are going to do this, then you need your strength, witch. Eat."

Tara smiled as she grabbed the sandwhich and they started walking back to the bunker. Indeed, she felt very hungry. Maybe even hungry enough to eat this sandwhich, plus a little more.
