[Aeryn Sun] A crash and new arrivals.
Who: Aeryn Sun-Crighton and John Crighton
Where: Not far from the bunker
When: Day 28 - Around 2pm
Invited: Everyone in location; open
Status: Complete

Fire licked at the canopy of the shuttle, as it lurched sideways through the wormhole. Aeryn clung to the controls, fighting every inch of the journey and surviving mostly on willpower alone.

A shard of metal sheared free, striking her face and grazing it. "Frell" she muttered, shaking long black hair from her face. "This isn't good."

"John!" she screamed, hoping he was still conscious behind her "John, we need more power, can you change it?"

Beneath her, the shuttle bucked and skittered, like a wild horse being tamed. Only this was one wild horse that would never be tamed.

A mutter came from the man behind her and she resisted the urge to turn. "Speak louder, frell it! I can't hear what you said!"

She saw the glare of sun on a sandy beach and knew that their craft appeared along the horizon, streaking like a meteor towards the thin yellow line. Beyond it, she could make out a greener line, following the beach-head. At least there would be something to cushion their landing.

Another piece of metal sheared off, from the outside this time, landing in the sea with a hiss. All of the paint had been stripped away now, by the searing heat of the reentry. If only she could get them down in one piece, perhaps they could contact Moiya, somehow.

John had hell to pay when she managed to get back there. And pay he would!

She yelped as the shuttle bounced off the canopy of trees, then unconsciousness hit her. Hard.

------

It was dark. Not the dark of space, nor the darkness of unconsciousness, but simply dark.

She could hear screams, she thought, fear, distress, but they were distant.

As Aeryn regained full consciousness and adjusted to the very dim light, a stabbing pain lanced through her right arm and she looked down. The tight leather that encased the arm was rent apart, showing a deep gash running through the skin and revealing muscle underneath.

She hissed, trying to gently tease the material away from the wound. All she knew was she needed to keep it clean, but the rest? She blinked, pausing to assess her situation, but for one she couldn't place where she was... second, she couldn't remember how she got there.

She reached up, pushing at the metal sheet that covered her with her good arm. It wouldn't do to be caught here if she's in danger. It felt like it was caught on something and wouldn't move.

"Help!" she called, no hint of panic in her voice. Footsteps were vaguely heard in the soft sand beneath her. "Help me, I'm trapped in here!!!"

She paused, listening to the outside.

The voices were strange and she couldn't understand them, muffled though they were. Even the shouts that indicated her wreckage had been found were incomprehensible.

What the FRELL was happening?

Chloe walked over to join May and Chris as he examined the two new arrivals. She'd hoped she had misheard but now Mad Chris's words confirmed her fears. The two strangers who'd just arrived were suffering from the same complete amnesia that everyone else had.

How was that possible? What could possibly have caused it? What was still causing it? Was it an ongoing effect? Chloe stopped moving for a moment as a horrible thought occurred to her. Then she hurried along, moving up to stand next to Chris.

What if the cause--whatever it was--took effect any time you lost consciousness? What if everything they learned about themselves today was lost when they went to sleep tonight? Would they wake up tomorrow with no memories of today's events?

Addressing the man with the goose egg on his forehead, Chloe asked, "Did you lose consciousness? Did you pass out during the crash? Even for a moment?"

The Doctor crossed to stand in front of the dark haired man. He had a bruise at his hairline.

“I’m gonna check for a concussion, alright? I can take care of that bruise at least.” He waved the penlike diagnostic tool in front of the man. The blue light at the end shone over the bruise, and a slight, humming noise came from it. “Mild concussion. Skull’s intact.”

John winced and pulled his head back a little as the tall man with the amusingly large ears waved something in front of his face. He seemed to instinctly recall that he didn't always have the best of luck with glowing things being waved at him. "Hey, what the hell ... get that thing away from me ... " he raised a hand to swat at the penlike tool. It seemed that he was starting to gather the same crowd Aeryn had had, and he wasn't too keen on being the center of attention.

John slowly pushed himself to his feet, grunting. His black leather pants and vest had been torn during the crash and were charred in a few places. His white undershirt had a few scorchmarks on it as well. His head felt like it weighed as much as a Leviathan. His next thought was what the hell was a Leviathan. He looked around at the odd assortment of people gathered around him, they all looked just as perplexed and confused as he did, and none of them looked outright hostile. Aeryn was the only one truly wearing any sort of scowl at the moment and for some reason, that made John smile.

Addressing the man with the goose egg on his forehead, Chloe asked, "Did you lose consciousness? Did you pass out during the crash? Even for a moment?"

John looked over at the blond who had spoken to him, she was cute. He gave her a sardonic half-smile. "If I did, I don't remember sweetheart. We did a lot of bouncing around in that thing and landed pretty hard. I have blood on the side of my head and Mr. Man over there with the blinky glowy blue thing says I have a concussion. Now, I'm no doctor, but chances are yeah, I probably lost consciousness at one point or another."

"If you're gonna be that friendly, we could always throw you back. Besides, you'd be too stringy for the cookpot. And it'd have been easier to let you roast in you're original container." He poked a thumb towards to wreck of the ship.

"The writing on it is basic English. I don't suppose NASA would be tracking you?" There wasn't much in the way of real hope there. Because some of the parts in the controls were NOT standard issue. "We're from a plane crash. According to the records we found we've been here a month, with no sign of rescue. So a nice NASA homing tranciever would be very good news."

After virtually inhaling the banana Scott joined the Doctor, Ami, Chloe, Isabel, May, Erin*, and Erin's cranky friend. Chloe had a semi-automatic pistol stuck in her waistband, he noticed. Erin also seemed comfortable with the futuristic-looking gun in its holster. Either Ami hadn't noticed or she was getting used to the sight of the weapons.

Ami slipped her hand in his when Scott stopped beside her. /Feeling better?/

/Some,/ Scott replied. /I think I need more food and some sleep./ The thought of sleep led to thoughts of bed and Ami. Scott deliberately distracted himself by looking at the knot on the newcomer's head. "Do you want me to take a look at that?"

* I figured that Aeryn would go check on John.

"If you're gonna be that friendly, we could always throw you back. Besides, you'd be too stringy for the cookpot. And it'd have been easier to let you roast in you're original container." He poked a thumb towards to wreck of the ship.

John looked from the cute blond that had spoken to him to the man with the ears and the lilting accent. He tilted his head a little as he gazed at the man, studying him quietly with curious, slightly suspicious, blue eyes. "I'm a very friendly guy when you get to know me, Mr. Man," he replied with a sardonic half-smile. "I'm the life of the party when you get a few drinks into me, so you'll have to pardon me if I'm not exactly in a chipper mood. Sudden decents into unknown territories sometimes does that to me, ya know?"

John squinted over at the spacecraft and back at the man and shook his head a little, instantly regretting it when a wave of vertigo washed over him. He put a hand to the side of his head with a small groan. But damn he hated concussions. Somehow, he knew this wasn't his first one. He frowned a little and looked back up at the man. "NASA? I ... no ... I don't ... think so ..." letters floated in and out of his fuddled memory. "Not NASA ... something ... International ... something. Dammit, why the hell can't I remember anything?"

"Do you want me to take a look at that?"

John, still frowning as he tried to figure out what the hell the letters floating around inside his head meant, looked over at the one who had helped Aeryn. "What? Oh ... uh, yeah sure, I guess ... if you think you can do anything about it." Then, almost as an afterthought he added, "thanks."
