Who: Tara, May, Molly, Ami, River, Chris, Faith, Daniel, anyone else
Where: Medical Facility
When: Day 22, late afternoon
Invited: Open
Status: Complete

ooc: not sure who's all going. so if the list Tara tells Daniel doesn't include you and you want to go, just post a walk-in.

The ladies went to the cafeteria where they began to gather some simple supplies for their journey. Daniel happened to be there getting some coffee and chatting with Chris. Tara approached the two, trying to walk without using the tables and chairs for support. She had indeed finished the rest of her sandwhich and an extra banana. It made her overfull to eat that much right now, but Molly was right, she needed fuel. she could feel the physical energy coursing through her body as she digested the food. She just wished she could feel the same about her magical energy. "Daniel, Molly, May, Faith, and myself are taking a short trip. Hopefully, with the help of a teleporter (she hoped Chris would be amenable). We need to head South and East of here to find some ley lines. I believe the ley lines will help me get my magic back." She sat down next to them, knowing standing wasn't in her best interest right now.

[Chris] Count me in

Chris nodded at Tara's request. "I can take you there," he said. "Or at least get you back." He was learning on this island not to teleport to unknown places. "Unless we can figure out exactly where this is. Does anybody have a map?"

If he had a map, he could scry for the ley lines and not have a repeat of the embarassing accident that had revealed his Orbing ability to half the camp.

[Daniel] Maps I Can Do

"I don't know how accurate it is, but we do have a very basic map of the island. If it's accurate, the island is a lot larger than we thought," Daniel stated. "Unfortunately, despite all the technology here, there is no copy machine, so if you want to take it along, I'm going to have to ask that you make a copy."

[Faith] Personal Xerox Here

"Yeah, I can copy it." Faith's announcement received several odd and surprised looks. "What? I'm no Picasso or any shit like that, but I'm pretty good at copying: maps, symbols, that sort of stuff.

"I do have more going for me than a killer body, you know?"

[Molly]

"Well I happen to know for a fact that it takes about a week of your body being absent any magic at all before the mind adapts itself to the lack, meaning you start to loose ability should you get it back. So we'll all go tomorrow. It'll give us time to rest up." Molly looked pointedly at Tara, crossing her arms. "You'll eat a good dinner tonight, and a healthy breakfast tomorrow. Sleep well and fuel up, you'll be in better shape for it."

River had an amused look on her face. "Mother knows best." She sing songed.

River was still smiling when she moved to stand in front of Molly. "And the answer is yes. Ithaven't danced in a long time."

Molly tried to scowel at the girl, but was failing. "You know that can get very annoying."

"You worry about me, but think it is amusing." River half danced away from the group and paused at the door. "I will accompany your venture. I have more going for me than my killer brain."

Ack, crossposting. I'm too lazy to change, so just assume Molly is responding to Tara's comment about going tomorrow.

May was relieved that they wouldn't be going until the next day. It was getting late and the sun was getting low, and being stuck out there at night didn't thrill her. She also remembered Dean mentioning that they'd found a fairly disturbing graveyard southeast of the bunker, and if that was where they were going to wind up, she really didn't want to be there after dark.

There was superstition, and then there was being stuck on an island that was Murphy's Law incarnate.

"You know I'm in," she added, looking up from the cabinet she was rummaging through. "Is there anything we're going to need besides the usual provisions?"

"I can't go," Ami said quietly, feeling guiltily out of place as all the preparations went on around her. She didn't explain why she couldn't go: part of it was knowing that she wasn't up for a long trip any more than Tara was. "But I'd like to do something to help with the preparations. Let me do that at least."

[Ash] Horning In

"What's this I hear about you lovely ladies taking a hike tomorrow," Ash asked, joining the ladies in the cafeteria. "I'm going stir crazy in this place. So--assuming you don't mind--I think I'll tag along, just in case you run into trouble."

"Besides," he added with a grin, "the scenery should be terrific."

It took May a second to absorb what Tara was saying, and then she immediately started searching for a pen and paper. "Sure, but, I think I'm going to have to write that one down." She finally retrieved a piece of scrap paper and a pencil. "Can you repeat that again?"

She wrote down the instructions as Tara repeated them. Exact as anything, but possible; it wouldn't be hard to think of five times someone had fixed up her injuries. "I can do it, I've got a late perimeter sweep anyway, but I've got no idea what a eucalyptus bush looks like," she admitted.

The stranger who walked in and volunteered his services was apparently one of the survivors she hadn't met yet, and Tara's comment about zombies made her blink and look up. Another demon hunter? Huh. "Hey, I don't think we've met," she greeted, "I'm May."

((OOC: If they have met, tell me and I'll repost; May's not as out-of-it as I am today. But I don't think she has met Ash.))

[Ash] Introductions

"I don't believe we have," Ash said to May, ignoring Molly's gentle bullying of Tara. He switched the cup of coffee he was holding to his prosthetic right hand and held out his left.

"I'm Ash. Ash Williams. Pleased to meet you."

[Ash] Say what?

"I never said I was a lawyer either," Ash snapped, "and for the same reason--because I'm not!"

He studied Tara for a moment, wondering what had set her off so suddenly. There was nothing about his artificial hand that ought to be bothering her. It didn't make any sense to him.

But she was definitely glaring at him...when she didn't look like she was about to hurl. "What's got your panties in a bunch?"

OOC: Just a reminder--Ash has a modern prosthetic hand now, not the iron and leather contraption he built (with the blacksmith's help) in Army of Darkness. Of course, considering how much time he spent dealing with the Necronomicon* and the Evil Dead, the stink of necromancy isn't surprising.

*P.S. Ash's "gift" from the box of stuff was a page torn from the Necronomicon on which he had scrawled a girl's phone number--hey, it was all he could find to write on at the time.... He doesn't have it on him, but it's around somewhere.

[Ash] You're none too sweet yourself....

Ash raised his arm and looked at his artificial hand. (She could get all that just from looking at it? Weird!)

He looked at Tara again. "Well, I'll tell you," Ash said, sitting down at the table. "Here's an important safety tip. If you ever visit a cabin in the woods--and by visit, I mean break into--and you find a tape recorder on which someone has translated ancient incantations for summoning demons...for God's sake don't turn it on!"

He glanced around at the others, then met Tara's eyes again. "To make a long story short--to the great relief of everyone here, I'm sure--my hand was possessed by one of those evil spirits. Like an infection. And the only way to stop it from spreading was to cut it off."

"So I did."

[Mayday] You didn't?!?!

((OOC: Random observation - wait, why is Ash drinking coffee? (http://community.livejournal.com/crossing_lostrp/57572.html) ;) Sorry for the delay, I actually had to hit the sack by 10 pm last night. And stupid me on the "bush" comment, I said I was out of it!))

"Hey, I'm a city girl," May said, grinning at Tara. "In Queens, survival skills amount to dodging muggers and stalking the wild cheeseburger."

She shook Ash's good hand, showing absolutely no surprise at the presence of the prosthesis - she noticed it, but it didn't even make her blink. It wasn't like she'd never seen one before. She idly wondered if he had to repair it as often as her Dad had to get his artificial leg fixed. Probably not, given why he usually had to get it repaired. "May Parker," she added, properly introducing herself. "Got dumped here a few days ago."

His story, however, did take her by surprise. The fact that he cut his own hand off struck her speechless for a second. The necromancy discussion went right over her head, but she did understand that Ash had stopped whatever it was by cutting the hand off. Still, it took a hell of a lot of guts to do something like that. "I'm still stuck at the part where you cut your own hand off," she admitted, alternately impressed and a bit weirded out.

Okay, maybe he was the type to need to get that hand repaired a lot.

[Ash] The hell I didn't!

OOC: Anytime is a good time for coffee!

IC: "What can I say? I'm a manly man," Ash said to May with a big ole grin. Then he sobered a bit. "It helped that I...let's just say I was a couple of cans short of a sixpack by that time. It had been a long, tough, gruesome night. And it wasn't going to get better for a while."

He shook off the memories and drained his coffee cup, then placed it on the table. "I don't know anything about spells," he said to Tara. "If you say it was a spell, fine; all I know is desperate times called for desperate measures."

"So--what time is this shindig tomorrow?"
