Who: Daniel
Where: The Other Side (ebil!AU 'verse)
When: Day 24
Invited: Anyone who came through the rings, ebil!dopplegangers
Status: Incomplete

The ring transporter activated with its usual speed and flash of light. Daniel assumed that it was with its usual flash of light as all he felt was the familiar tingle and the sudden disorientation that accompanied ring transport. Fortunately, past experience more than prepared him for the disorientation and his gun was in his hand before his eyes found a focal point.

Weapon drawn and at ready was a good thing because the focal point happened to be another set of eyes – clearly startled to see Daniel and the rest of his team standing there.

For what felt like an eternity but had to be no longer than a heartbeat the two groups stared at one another as if trying to determine what was going on. Each side armed – well mostly armed given Damon's complete lack of weaponry of any sort – simply having a good old fashioned stare down.

Some people would have called it comical.

"Drop your weapons!" One of the guards ordered.

That was right before each of their enemies weapons – a curious mixture of zat guns and pistols - flew out of their hands and skittered across the floor to land at the feet of Daniel's team.

Surprise colored the faces of the guards, and as one they turned and scrambled toward the large pedestal with an archway on it in the center of the – (control?) – room. Only one stayed behind, moving swiftly to the console. He – no she, Daniel realized as her cap fell off and dark chestnut hair spilled down her back – was intercepted by Damon who disappeared and reappeared as quick as Daniel could blink.

"I don't think so," Damon said. He waved a gun at the woman, who foolishly enough did not immediately back away.

"You can't kill me with that," she sneered.

Daniel flipped the safety on his sidearm. "No, but I can, with this. Now, back away from that console." His gaze flickered briefly to the men and women gathered near the platform, "All of you, back over here."

To Daniel's surprise, the woman almost seemed to wilt under his gaze. Then she motioned to the others who slowly made their way back across the room.

"Is it just me," someone asked quietly behind Daniel, "Or was that a little too easy?"

"Well... you can have this one if you want," Isabel said, holding out her zat, "but I'm not keen on using a normal gun. I've killed too many people already."

"Don't worry about it, Isabel," Jon interrupted, retrieving the Wraith stunner by his feet. "I'm fine with just about anything, sad to say. Swap ya?"

He was a little disturbed by Isabel's admission of having killed "too many people," but then he didn't know the circumstances. At least if she flew off the handle at a blonde woman it wouldn't be Claire this time - not unless the world really had turned on its head.

Jon retrieved Damon's gun and checked it over, casting about for spare ammunition when he realized the other guy was still staring at the firearm. He shook his head and shrugged.

"Hey, I don't like killing people either. But if they try to kill me or the rest of you, I'm not exactly going to let them get away with it." The Winchesters were still pacing by the portal. "You might want to step away from that thing until it's open - we have no idea how it operates. Wouldn't want you disintegrating in some big kawhoosh."

Ok, so it didn't look much like a Stargate, but that didn't mean it wasn't as hazardous to your health as whatever was on the other side.

"Then I suggest we get on with it," Isabel said. "The longer we wait the more time we give the people on the other side of this thing the chance to prepare for our arrival." She checked her zat again and looked at the portal.

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be."

Finally everyone had their weapon of choice (or lack thereof). Before anyone else could start yapping Dean exchanged a look with Sam, who nodded. "Let's go. Movin' out."

Holding their zats ready the brothers stepped through the gateway. The momentary tingle of electricity was unfamiliar but not unexpected.

They instinctively stood back to back as the space around them morphed into another sterile control room. Four more blue-uniformed guards stood waiting with zats leveled. It was the fifth person whose gun was still holstered who held the boys' attention.

"Welcome," the hard-faced Daniel said.

"Doppleganger," Sam and Dean muttered simultaneously.

Static crackled from the portal, drawing the guards' attention. Taking advantage of the distraction, the brothers fired. Two of the guards twitched from the energy bolts, crumpling to the ground. Dean and Sam scrambled apart, hoping to hit the two remaining guards before they were stunned or worse.

Isabel followed Dean and Sam through the portal, coming through to the other side just as the brothers fired their zats, hitting two guards. Isabel quickly noted two more as they fired, zat blasts crackling overhead as she instinctively dived out of the way, swung her arm round and pressed the zat's trigger. Her shot missed and she scrambled behind the control console to get some cover, only then realising who'd stood calmly in the middle of the fray.

"Daniel?" she muttered to herself, peering around the console. Sure enough, there he was, standing calmly in the middle of the room. Isabel blinked, then ducked out of the way of a zat shot which sizzled against the console. She peered out again, firing this time, and hit one of the remaining guards.

Oh, I have no doubt. Our heroes have to put up a fight, you know. :)

Jon pushed "Private Benjamin" ahead of him through the portal, ducking to the side as soon as they were through. She took a zat blast for him, wasn't that nice? And came in useful as extra cover as he joined the firefight from behind an otherwise pathetic handrail.

Using a hostage as a shield wasn't one of Jon's finest moments, but he was hoping these guys knew the woman well enough not to zat her a second time - and in the meantime, where the fuck did they get another Daniel? An evil bastard of one too; all he was missing was a glow about the eyes.

Reinforcements came in from the far end, much better equipped than the island team - and Jon was fairly sure they weren't on the damn island any more, maybe a ship of some kind? Thinking about it was way down his to-do list, especially after proving that the smug Jackson was wearing some kind of personal shield: neither bullets, stunners or zat swayed that little bastard.

The fact that everyone on Jon's side was still standing - ok, crouching - was about the only good thing he could see in this situation right now, but he wasn't too confident that it'd last. Sure there were a couple more to come through, but two was nothing against ten.. and the rest.
