Who: Daisy Adair, Chloe Sullivan
When: Evening, Day 28, not long after The Cold Facts
Where: The Control Room
Invited: Anyone
Status: Complete
"This is where they saw the film of me being shot?" Daisy asked. She had wandered into the control room after dinner. The tanned blonde, Chloe Sullivan, was sitting at the console keeping watch over the surveillance cameras. It hadn't been intentional but now that she was here, Daisy decided to satisfy her curiosity.
Chloe looked slightly surprised, then uneasy. She nodded.
"Have you seen it?"
Another uneasy nod. "Yes."
"Show me," Daisy demanded.
And after a moment's hesitation, Chloe did. Daisy watched in silence, feeling her stomach flutter in sympathy with the Daisy she saw on the video monitor. It was horrible...and yet not. For one thing, she had only a remote intellectual knowledge that the woman on the screen was her. She felt no emotional connection to that earlier Daisy. She might just as easily have been a complete stranger. For another, she just felt...detached somehow, as if seeing such things was commonplace.
"Well," Daisy said brightly when it was done, "I can understand why Michelle and the other girl were so shocked to see me. It's really quite remarkable, isn't it?"
Chloe's unnaturally green eyes glittered in the reflected glare of the video screens as she looked at Daisy. A muted growl of thunder broke the silence. Daisy glanced at the monitors. It was getting dark outside, but she could see that it had begun to rain.
"Yes it is," Chloe said quietly. "Did that mean anything to you? Any of it?"
"No," Daisy said, "I can't explain it either."
A rap on the doorframe caught her attention. Parker Blaise leaned into the control room. "Just a heads-up," he said to Chloe. "Aiden, Veronica and Quentin headed out a few minutes ago to feed the prisoners."
Daisy saw Chloe nod. "I saw them leave," Chloe said, waving a hand at the bank of monitors. "They haven't reached the jail. I think they're going to get soaked," she added with a grin. A crack of thunder punctuated her words, accompanied by a momentary flickering of the lights. On the outside monitors the rain transformed instantly into a deluge.
Blaise matched Chloe's grin. "I think you're right," he said. Daisy looked from one to the other, feeling the sudden tension between them. "Okay, then," Blaise said abruptly. "Someone will be along to spell you in a while." And then he was gone. Chloe's bewildered and slightly hurt expression was priceless and Daisy couldn't help laughing.
"What?" Chloe asked, annoyed by Daisy laughter.
"Don't look so disappointed," Daisy said. "It's not as if you don't have plenty of lovers already," Daisy told her. Two who were more than eager and a third who looked like she'd run if chased, but only enough to save face before letting her pursuers get her right where she wanted them.
Chloe's annoyance vanished, replaced by a sheepish and guilty expression. She looked away and blushed prettily. "And I'm sure you'll find no shortage of volunteers if you want to add to your harem," Daisy continued. "But the lovely young soldier won't be one of them."
"No?" Chloe asked, but she didn't seem to be disputing Daisy's assertion.
"No," Daisy said. "I've met his type before--" she said, then paused, thinking. Chloe watched her closely. "No," Daisy said before Chloe could ask, "I'm not remembering anything. It's just...a feeling. Something I know from experience even if I can't remember specifics. He's taken--you noticed the ring," Daisy said.
It wasn't a question. Chloe nodded. "And he's obviously one of those annoyingly faithful and devoted husbands. Much as he'd like to take you up on your unspoken offer," Daisy said and smiled to see Chloe blush again, "he won't."
"No, he won't...." Chloe said, sounding a bit wistful. Not that Daisy could blame her. That just made him more attractive, really. She looked like she was about to say more, but a flickering light caught her attention, and Daisy's as well. Daisy glanced at the monitors again just in time to see three of them reduced to a staticky gray haze.
"Are those--?" Daisy asked.
"Yeah," Chloe said, turning to begin playing with the switches on the console. "The cameras covering the jail." Nothing she did helped. Over the next couple of minutes each of the three screens went black, save for the blocky text message NO SIGNAL. Daisy met Chloe's gaze and she knew that Chloe shared her thoughts. This was no coincidence.
"Find Blaise or Dr. Jackson," Chloe told Daisy. "Let them know. Something's going on."

Chloe replayed the video.
"Looks like we lost the feed in the storm. Possibly a lightening strike," Daniel declared. "I'm going to head out to the jail, see if we are completely out of commission or if connections can be restored."
[OOC: Daniel will gather up the masses en route.]

Date: 2007-04-13 11:27 pm (UTC)Daisy smiled indulgently. "Go," she said. "I'll hold down the fort."
"Thanks," Chloe said. She leaped up and left the control room. Daniel wasn't in sight. Chloe hurried toward her room. George's room. Whatever.
Chloe closed the door behind her and stripped off the clothes she was wearing. It was still pouring outside and if anyone here had a raincoat or an umbrella she hadn't seen any evidence of them. So she settled for the next best thing--a swimsuit. Specifically, the red one piece she'd discovered while searching the room earlier.
When she was dressed Chloe headed for the door, glancing at her reflection in the mirror. "Christ, I look someone on Baywatch."
Chloe threw open the door and stopped, as surprised as George skidded to a stop before she collided with Chloe. Chloe stared at her for a moment, until she heard Faith ask, "going for a swim?"
Shifting her gaze to Faith, Chloe said, "no, just outside. But it amounts to the same thing. What's up?"
"Just tryin' to discuss the sleeping arrangements," Faith said. George turned and glared at her. Faith threw up her hands in a gesture of surrender but Chloe didn't buy it for a moment, and neither did George by the look of her. "Hey," Faith said, "this is where I woke up and in case you haven't noticed, the inn is full. I don't fancy sleeping in a chair in the cafeteria is all."
Chloe edged past George. She gave Faith a once over. "Well, if you do stay here tonight don't start anything without me," she said.
"No promises!" Faith replied promptly, then grinned back at her. "But feel free to join us when you get back." Then she her grin faded. "Where're you going anyway?"
"We lost the video feed from the other bunker. I'm going with Daniel to check it out--and whoever else wants to go."

Date: 2007-04-17 02:00 am (UTC)The Vampire Slayer siddled up to Chloe. With a glean of possession in her eyes, she raked them over the far too attractive blond and licked her lips in appreciation. Her voice purred with suggestion, "Locke's got it right. You look good enough to eat."
Daniel doubted he was the only one in the room who's imagination and libido went in a very inappropriate direction.
"Let's head out then," Daniel declared more sharply than intended. He looked to the room at large, "Let's try to get back before dusk."
With a nod, Daniel headed out the door.
[Chloe]
Date: 2007-04-17 05:17 am (UTC)The slight widening of Faith's eyes and the expression that saidOh, you're really asking for it now! was intimidating--and arousing. Chloe swallowed as Faith loomed over her (and how did she do that when she wasn't that much taller?), leaning in to invade her personal space. Faith was close enough that Chloe could feel her body heat against her bare skin, and she smelled awfully good.
"It's not a promise, doll," Faith said softly enough that nobody else could hear. "It's a guarantee."
"Or my money back?" Chloe asked, just as quietly.
"If you're not totally satisfied," Faith said agreed, though her voice made it clear that she didn't think that was an option. Chloe shivered and leaned a little closer--
--then jumped and yelped, startled by the stinging slap on the ass Faith delivered. "But not right now," Faith said briskly. She winked at Chloe and then she was all business again. "We've got things to do."
Chloe glanced around and realized that Daniel Jackson, Locke, DI Tyler and the others had all filed out the doorway. Tyler had paused just outside, looking back. "You two coming, or what?"
Chloe met Faith's eyes again and smiled, but said nothing. With a straight line like that, it was just too easy. "Yeah," Faith said, "we're right behind you."
